The Haymarket Theatre is a place dedicated to the Theatre Arts through educational programs, performance opportunities, programming for everyone, and the development of a professional playgoers' series for Lincoln and the Midwest. The Haymarket Theatre is a Nebraska Not-For-Profit Corporation supported by The Friends of the Haymarket Theatre, a 501(c)3 entity.
The Haymarket Theatre is one of Lincoln, Nebraska's finest children's theatres and professional repertory companies. We feature a full slate of classes and performance projects for young people and a yearly professional theatre series for all. In the past three years we have provided thousands of young people and their families a chance to participate in the theatre!
We offer classes for ages 5-18 in acting, musical theatre, auditioning, theatre games, improv comedy, classical acting and more. Our skills classes focus on the basic tools of performance in a challenging but fun environment.
Our performance projects offer the opportunity for any young person to participate in the rehearsal and performance of a play or musical. Our children's theatre shows, rehearsals and classes are housed in our state of the art theater, the Haymarket Theatre, in the heart of the Haymarket Historical District in downtown Lincoln.
Over the past five seasons we have presented The Who's Tommy, Hamlet, Lord of the Flies, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The White Rose, Cabaret, Animal Farm, Yoko Ono's New York Rock, I Am My Own Wife, Urinetown, The Musical, Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice, just to name a few. We are proud to cast Lincoln's best talent in concert with creative and forward-thinking directors and design artists who collaborate to produce vital theatre for the Midwest. Join us as a Member of the Friends of the Haymarket Theatre, sign-up for a theatre class, or take-in our next performances as an audience member and become a part of the art!
